News from the Nest: 4th Graders Enjoy a Snowy Ashokan
Fieldston Lower 4th Graders traveled to the Ashokan Center in Olivebridge, New York, for a wintry overnight exploration of nature and immersive lessons in the local area’s history and ecology.
While participating in outdoor activities such as a gorge hike, students had their introductory question to the Ashokan Center in mind: “Why does NYC have the best bagels and pizza in the world? It’s the water!” The center is close to the Ashokan Reservoir, one of the main sources for NYC’s water supply.

"We were rewarded with over six inches of snow! Teacher Michael Wilkinson drove into town to buy sleds so students could go sledding with their 4th Grade teachers,” said Fieldston Lower Principal Joe McCauley.
