In March, a brand new ECFS event filled the Dining Hall with connection, celebration, music, and joy — We Are Ethical! More than 150 members of the Ethical Culture Fieldston School came out to enjoy the dynamic and exciting day.
The event, which was organized by the All School Multicultural Committee (ASMC) and the Department of Belonging and Social Impact (BSI), was designed to bring the community together for a day of festivities before the two-week Spring Recess.
“We Are Ethical brought all the love and feels to my families — my home family (Matt and little Byron) and my new family (the ASMC crew),” says Byron Slosar P’36, who co-chaired the event with Tina Shoulders P’32, Raven Maldonado P’32, and Jerome Hairson P’27, P’33. “It was awesome to see the same kind of connection we have built with each other over the past year scaled up and made visible between such a large group of community members and new families from all backgrounds.”
Activities included lip sync battles, an arts and crafts station where guests could make friendship bracelets or create gratitude cards, family trivia, a spinning photo booth, and more.
“Serious work can be simple and fun,” Slosar remarks, “and I think this event did just that.”
